I chose this book because Colin was studying mountains. We only spent a few days on it, but we will stay with similar subject matter for the remainder of the week and next week.
Geography: Appalachian Mountains and West Virginia
Math: count animals in book and make a graph showing the information
Social Studies: occupations (coal miner, traveling photographer)
Science: snakes, mountains
