Smurf Birthday Party

A Smurf movie came out last summer right around the time we visited NYC. After we got home from our trip, we took the kids to see the movie. They all loved it, especially since all the NYC parts were fresh in their minds. Luckily, they still had a very small section of Smurf party supplies at Party City when I took Caleigh to decide what she wanted.

For the goody bags, I just cut the shapes for the door and roof from construction paper and taped them onto white bags.

I used blue candy melts to dip the pretzel rods and marshmallows and then put some sprinkles on them. Everyone loved these and they all disappeared quickly.

The Cake

Some of the snacks. We also had blue punch, made with blue Hawaiian Punch, 7-Up, and pineapple sherbet.

I found this fruit salsa and cinnamon chips on Pinterest. So good!

To make the cake:
I just covered the cake board with green frosting since we didn't need that much more cake. Then I drew in the walkway. I used tips to put grass and flowers in different places. I used cake pops for the smurfberry bushes. I used a giant cupcake pan that makes the cupcake in two pieces for the house. I turned the bottom piece upside down. Once I had it all decorated, I placed the roof piece on top.

Girls' First Time Ice Skating

Last week I got to take the girls ice skating for the first time. They've been asking to go for a while. I wasn't sure how well it would go though because I've had trouble getting them to try very much when they've been rollerskating. One of their friends was there and they went right out with her. They did so well and immediately started asking to go again.

Here they are at the beginning staying close to the wall.

Caleigh fell. I was so amazed that she didn't get upset at all. When she fell roller skating, she quit.

Caleigh didn't take long before she made it to the middle of the rink.

Molly made it away from the wall too.

One of Colin too.

Caleigh's 8th Birthday

My little girl is 8 today!

She asked for a sing-a-ma-jig cake.

I used one of hers to choose the colors.

She picked Olive Garden for lunch.

Opening Presents (I was able to bring most of her presents with us, but she'll have 2 to open tomorrow when we get home. One was too big and the other is heavy.)

Ordering pizza was all she had asked to do before she knew we were going on a trip so she got pizza for dinner (yes for the 2nd time today). She picked Littlest Pet Shop plates, napkins, and cups.

Caleigh wasn't sure what she wanted to do for her birthday when we asked her. So I just planned a surprise weekend. They knew we were going somewhere on Friday (the day before her birthday), but they thought it was close to home. We secretly packed their clothes, swimming stuff, the presents, and the cake without them noticing. We went to Ripley's Aquarium. Once we left there, we drove to the hotel and told the kids we were spending 2 nights. From the parking lot, they could see part of the indoor waterpark so they were excited about that. The hotel is right on the beach and we have a view of the ocean. It's too cold to do more than walk on the beach, but Caleigh's favorite thing about the beach is collecting shells so she was happy.
I'll be posting more pictures soon of the aquarium, beach, and waterpark.

Adding in a picture of Caleigh with her new bike she received when we got home.

Caleigh's 7th Birthday

I can't believe my little girl is 7. The time really does pass so quickly.

They decided to dress to match the theme.

Happy Birthday Caleigh!

Caleigh is 6 years old today. We went to Chef Mickey's for breakfast. Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, and Donald walk around visiting your table while you eat. After breakfast, they brought out a cupcake for her. Then we went to Magic Kingdom. We did all her favorite rides and met some characters. She wanted to leave because she was so excited about getting back to the house to open her presents.
