Colin is 12!!

I just can't believe my little boy is 12 years old today. It's all gone by so quickly. I hope the time slows down some for these next few years. He has grown up so much in the last year. He's just about as tall as I am.

I'm sure he'll have a wonderful day. He has a hockey game so he gets to do his favorite thing. He'll also spend the evening hanging out with his teammates at the hotel.

First Goal

Colin usually plays goalie, but this session there are two goalies on his team. They decided to take turns so he's getting a chance to try new postitions. In Wednesday's game, he scored his first goal and I just happened to catch it all on my camera.

He's in blue taking the shot.

You can see the puck at the top of the net.

It's in!

Colin's First Ice Hockey Game

Colin has played roller hockey for a couple months, but he just started ice hockey. He only played goalie in this game, which is also all he has played in roller hockey. His ice hockey team has two goalies though so he'll be trying some other positions.

Colin loved this part. After they won, his team ran over to him hitting his helmet and hugging him.

Colin's 11th Birthday and Hockey Party

I just can't believe it's already been eleven years since I became a mom. It seems like I was just watching him take his first steps, wondering if he'd ever sleep in his own room, being forced to go on adventures with him just like Dora, finding lines of matchbox cars all over the house, worrying about potty training, helping him learn to count, searching the house with him for clues that he would write in his Blues Clues notebook, teaching him the sounds of letters, holding his hand to cross the street. Now he's suddenly 11 years old.

Colin is 10!

Yesterday was Colin's 10th birthday. I just can't believe he's already 10. Every time one of them has a birthday, I'm just shocked that they are really this old. Ten seems like such a big number.

Chad took the day off work and we all had a fun day together. First, we went to a fire museum. I'll post about that later since it also went along with our school. Then we let Colin choose where to go for lunch. After that, we went to Chuck E. Cheese's to let the kids play games.

Then we went home for presents, dinner, and cake.

Colin made a Lego Mario for a decoration.

Colin was very worried about his cake and kept checking on me to make sure it was going to look like Mario. I used a Diego cake pan so he was afraid it would look like Diego.

First Flight

My baby boy (okay, he's 9 1/2) went on his first airplane ride today. Chad needed to go to Ft. Lauderdale, FL, today and drive back so he thought it was a good chance for Colin to get to fly. It also meant Chad would have some company on the drive back to NC. Colin was nervous last night and thought about backing out. I think he was excited too. Here he is waiting for take off.

He called me right before he was exiting the plane. He said the only part that was a little scary was taking off.

The girls were jealous and wanted to go too, which surprised us. Molly isn't usually afraid of things, but a few weeks ago, she refused to go on a dolphin cruise when we were at the beach. She was sure the boat would turn over. She told me she didn't think airplanes would turn over though so they were safe. Caleigh is afraid of a lot of things. When we've considered flying somewhere, we've always worried she wouldn't be able to handle it. She's been on amusement park rides that have scared her so much that we aren't able to reason with her or calm her down.

Colin's birthday and snow

The kids were so excited to see it snowing last night. It's only snowed one other time since we've lived here. Colin said God sent snow for his birthday present. Luckily, the snow was still around when they got up this morning. Chad had already taken the day off for Colin's birthday. We had planned to take them out somewhere, but they were happy to stay home and get to go out to play in the snow.

Colin decided he wanted to decorate his own Star Wars cake this year. He drew everything out on paper. I helped him get the outline on the cake, but he did most of the decorating.

I can't believe he's already 9 years old.
