Not Back to School Celebration

Yesterday was the first day for public schools here. I like to make that a fun day for the kids to celebrate that they don't have to go. We went to lunch with friends and then met our homeschool group at the bowling alley for a fun afternoon of bowling.

What a fun day! I like that you celebrate them NOT going back to school - that's a neat idea :)

One year I took my kids shopping for school uniforms. Just one set for each of them. It was more for fun than anything. It was our way of joining in the "back to school" mentality. That year they wore their school uniforms whenever we went on "field trips" to the zoo or the museum. I got such a kick out of it, seeing all four of my kids in the same white polo shirts and blue shorts. They looked cute. But we only did that for that one year. The next year the two older ones were suddenly too cool for antics like that. Which was fine by me. We have the memory of that one year :)

Love your blog. I'm a new follower.

That looks so fun. I've been wanting to go bowling. We had a skating "not back to school" party. We didn't get to attend. :( Thanks for stopping by my blog. Hope your homeschool year goes well.
